It is time to speak up against broken healthcare systems that allow racism to flourish and harm our community, our dedicated students, and healthcare workers. You can help Project Diversify Medicine (PDM) document the harm of racism in medicine and advocate for equitable admissions practices, bias-free learning environments, and medical spaces. Most importantly, we want to create a centralized resource to help students and health professionals navigate the medical field safely. This information will be shared in our "Yellow Book" Travel guide (similar to the Green Book Travel guide) and released later. All information collected will remain anonymous unless you desire to disclose your personal information.

As you craft your story, consider:

• Documenting harm or identifying progress, such as:

  • How systematic structures interfered or improved your ability to perform

  • The specific impact hospitals and institutions have had on med students, residents, and healthcare workers.

• Sharing your perspective, for example

  • What drove you to get into medicine and if you experienced racism what happened when you reported it.

  • Does the college, medical school, residency program, or hospital system have a history of racism? What steps have been taken to address the matter?

By submitting a story (“the Submission”), I understand and agree to the following:

•  The Submission will be a true and accurate firsthand account.

• I am assigning, conveying, and otherwise transferring to PDM all rights, title, interest, and copyright ownership I may have in the Submission, and that PDM will be the sole owner of copyright and other rights in and to the Submission and any work based on the Submission. I understand that PDM may edit, alter, prepare derivative works, reproduce, exhibit, publish, and distribute the Submission for any lawful purpose, and may license these rights to others.

• I will waive all claims, release, indemnify, defend, hold harmless, and forever discharge PDM and its authorized representatives, licensees, successors, and assigns from any and all liability, claims, suits, demands, expenses of litigation and causes of action which I, my heirs, representatives, executors, administrators, or any other persons acting on my behalf or on behalf of my estate have or may have by reason of this authorization or arising out of my providing the Submission or PDM's publication of any information I have provided.
